MEDIA ADVISORY: MU Homecoming to Honor Traditions

WHAT: The Mizzou Alumni Association (MAA) invites the Columbia community to join in celebrating the “Show-Me State of Mind” during the University of Missouri’s 104th Homecoming celebration. The activities started earlier this month, with MU students and alumni participating in Lending a Paw to Hunger and, more recently, the Homecoming Blood Drive. The Tigers Taming Hunger Food Drive also will run throughout the month of October.  Full Story

This year, to celebrate the kickoff of MU’s new comprehensive fundraising                                     campaign, Mizzou: Our Time to Lead, the Homecoming parade grand marshals will be                                  campaign steering committee tri-chairs Cathy Allen, José Gutiérrez and Richard Miller.  Full Story

Visitors can check in and get information for the Homecoming weekend, meet with friends and purchase Homecoming merchandise at Carnahan Quad on the corner of Tiger and Conley Avenues. The Bates County Mizzou Alumni chapter will provide kettle corn in the afternoon.  Full Story

Students and alumni can gather in Greek Town to view skits performed by the MU Greek community.  Full Story

9:30 p.m. Spirit Rally  Full Story

Rev up for the big game at the first spirit rally on Mizzou’s newest campus landmark, Traditions Plaza, featuring appearances from Truman the Tiger, the Mizzou Spirit Squads and Marching Mizzou.  Full Story

9 a.m. Homecoming Parade  Full Story

The parade will start on the corner of Tiger and Conley Avenues and make its way through downtown Columbia. A map of the parade route can be found at:  Full Story

6:30 p.m. Kickoff, MU vs. Florida  Full Story

The Tigers will play Florida at Memorial Stadium. At halftime of the game, results of the student vote will be announced at the MU Homecoming king and queen will be crowned. Single game tickets are on sale at or 1-800-CAT-PAWS.  Full Story
