COLUMBIA, Mo. – Ann Korschgen, vice provost for enrollment management at the University of Missouri, has announced that Nick Prewett, associate director of financial aid at MU, has been named as MU’s new director of financial aid, effective May 1.
“I am pleased to accept the director of financial aid position at the University of Missouri and continue our mission of access and affordability for our students,” Prewett said. “The Office of Student Financial Aid will continue our strong customer service reputation by providing accurate information, access and financial aid options to our students and community.”
The Office of Student Financial Aid at MU is responsible for managing a scholarship budget in excess of $35 million each year. Staff members also are responsible for the preparation of financial aid packages, which include grants, scholarships, loans and other awards from federal, state, third-party and institutional sources. Staff members also advise thousands of students each year in financial matters.
“Nick has done an excellent job as the interim director, and we anticipate he will continue to do so in the director position,” said Ann Korschgen, vice provost for enrollment management. “We are very fortunate that he is a member of our Enrollment Management leadership team.”
Prewett received a bachelor’s degree in political science and history from Missouri Southern State College in Joplin and a master’s degree in political science from the University of Kansas. He also will receive a doctoral degree in higher education administration from the University of Kansas in May 2013. Prewett has served as the associate director of financial aid at MU since 2010. Previously, he served as the assistant director of financial aid at the University of Kansas from 2004 to 2010.
Prewett also served as the financial aid and admissions scholarship counselor at the University of Kansas in 2003. He has won the 2011 Outstanding Service award from the Kansas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators and the 2011 Committee of the Year award from the National Association of Financial Aid Administrators. Prewett also is a member of the Missouri Association of Student Financial Aid Professionals and the National Association of Financial Aid Administrators.
Prewett has been serving as interim director of financial aid at MU since James Brooks resigned in the summer of 2011.
