Media advisory:  MU to Host Annual Missouri Life Sciences Week

WHAT: Missouri Life Sciences Week 2009 is the University of Missouri's 25th annual celebration of life sciences research, education and outreach. The event attracts more than 1,000 academic researchers, business leaders and policy makers. 

The week will include a two-day poster session and research competition with more than 300 research projects, MU core facility and research center exhibits, a scientific supply vendor show, and a networking reception. It also features seminars by internationally acclaimed guest researchers, a science career development event, and a panel discussion with Missouri legislators who have participated in recent statewide life science tours. A special edition of the popular Saturday Morning Science program will feature one of the Life Sciences Week guest lecturers, Eloy Rodriguez, the James A. Perkins Professor of Plant Biology at Cornell University.

WHO: Missouri Life Sciences Week is free and open to the public.

WHEN: Monday, April 13 through Saturday, April 18.
The Missouri legislator panel discussion will take place at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, April 16.

WHERE: Bond Life Sciences Center, MU campus
The Missouri legislator panel discussion will take place in Monsanto Auditorium at the Bond Life Sciences Center.
